Lafayette MotelTallahassee, FLApril 22, 2014This is another one from the old Blog Host that stayed in draft mode forever. It was uploaded on June 11, 2016 but the pictures are from 2014. The pictures were also taken on an older phone so the quality and size aren’t as good as we’re getting now.
After the suspicious fire at the historic Putnam Hotel earlier this year, just weeks after it was sold, I figured I’d better get by there again to get some more snaps before it falls to the inevitable, regardless of what the new owners say.
Built in 1956, the Seahorse Inn evidently can be yours for somewhere between $800K and $3M, at least based on the numbers in this article from 2015. As of this week there are still “For Sale” signs on it, so if you’ve dreamed of owning a seaside (well, one block away) resort, now is your chance!
Update from March 30, 2015 – The Ming Tree has been demolished and construction is underway on its replacement, Maddio’s Pizza, plus a few other stores.
I made a quick stop on US 1 in New Smyrna Beach to get a few snaps of the classic “Dairy Queen”, but the joint next to it, the Shangri-La Motel, was even more classic. I did manage to get one from the DQ, but they were cleaning the outside and looking at me suspiciously,…
