Yet another 90’s travel brochure (we’re almost done with them, for now…), this time an Adventure Island brochure from 1993. I’ve never been to AI, and have only been to its sister park, Busch Gardens once, so this doesn’t bring back any nostalgic memories like the Pleasure Island/Disney Marketplace ones have. But its still cool looking back at these and seeing how things have changed in the last 25 years. For instance the two big draws in this brochure, the Tampa Typhoon and the Gulf Scream are both gone (closed in 2005, demolished in 2014 [where they just sitting there for nine years unused?]), and replaced by the Colossal Curl, a tube slide that opened in 2015. I may have to check this one out next time we go to Busch Gardens (which, based on my previous record, should be about 2053).

Center of Tallahassee
The day after Black Friday 2018, so Black Saturday?, what I would guess is still traditionally a busy shopping day, we risked a trip to what was once known as The Tallahassee Mall, now The Center of Tallahassee (even though its on the north side of town…), thinking that since the Big Game (UF/FSU) was…
Luzy Ho’s (aka Uforia) + Mark’s Bar – Tallahassee, FL
This was the original location of Lucy Ho’s, a Tallahassee institution. Later in life it was known as Uforia (as can be seen on the signage), and there was a little bar off the right called Mark’s Bar, ran by a guy named Mark. Now (Feb 2018) it’s been demolished and something “new” is being…

Shangri-La Motel – 805 N Dixie Fwy, New Smyrna Beach, FL 32168 (and Dairy Queen)
I made a quick stop on US 1 in New Smyrna Beach to get a few snaps of the classic “Dairy Queen”, but the joint next to it, the Shangri-La Motel, was even more classic. I did manage to get one from the DQ, but they were cleaning the outside and looking at me suspiciously,…
Woodland Plaza – DeLand, FL
When I was a kid back in the 70’s there was pretty much one “major” shopping center in DeLand: Woodland Plaza. This place had everything. It had a Roses, it had a Winn Dixie (or was it a Pantry Pride, or maybe both at different points…), it had a Super-X drugstore (which sounds like an…
